The Turkish Embassy in Singapore urged Singaporeans who wished to assist Turkey to make monetary donations through authorized channels.
Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 struck Turkey recently, centered in the Kahramanmaras province, affecting more than 13 million people in ten provinces, including Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa. According to , at least 31,643 people died.
As the earthquake-affected regions gradually change, new urgent needs are emerging, including those for winter tents, blankets, gas heaters, and generators. The Embassy no longer seeks in-kind donations because these requirements are incompatible with Singapore’s climate.
