On November 9, 2024, Rwanda鈥檚 Minister of ICT and Innovation, Paula Ingabire, visited Singapore鈥檚 Changi Airport Terminal 3 on the sidelines of the Singapore FinTech Festival 2024. Accompanied by Singapore Armed Forces’ Domain Commander (Air), Senior Assistant Commissioner Colin Tan, Minister Ingabire explored the airport鈥檚 innovative passport-less immigration clearance system. The visit highlighted the airport鈥檚 cutting-edge border management technology, which is designed to enhance security protocols while providing travellers with a more seamless entry experience.
Changi Airport鈥檚 digital border clearance system aims to modernise immigration processes by allowing passport-free passage, reducing bottlenecks and wait times for incoming travellers. The technology integrates biometric identification to verify travellers’ identities without requiring physical passports. The initiative aligns with Singapore鈥檚 efforts to lead in smart city infrastructure and transform travel experiences with the use of digital and AI-driven technologies.
Minister Ingabire鈥檚 visit reflects Rwanda鈥檚 commitment to advancing its own border security and digital infrastructure.
