The Spain鈥揝ingapore Business Summit, held on 16 July 2025, brought together 300 senior officials and business leaders in Singapore to celebrate six decades of diplomatic relations with Europe and to expand cooperation across high-growth sectors.
Opening the summit, Mr Alvin Tan, Singapore鈥檚 Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development, reaffirmed the strong commercial ties between Spain and Singapore. He highlighted Singapore鈥檚 role as a gateway to ASEAN鈥檚 670 million consumers and pointed to new opportunities emerging through regional initiatives like the Johor鈥揝ingapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
Ms Amparo L贸pez Senovilla, Spain鈥檚 Deputy Minister for Trade and President of ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, noted about Spain鈥檚 strengths in areas aligned with Singapore鈥檚 economic ambitions, particularly in engineering, digital transformation, consultancy, and renewable energy.
Throughout the day, delegates engaged in sessions covering opportunities in both markets. A roundtable explored strategies for doing business in Spain and Singapore, while a fireside chat focused on Asia鈥檚 green innovation drive. Sectoral panels on renewable energy and biotechnology highlighted concrete pathways for Spanish and Singaporean firms to collaborate and expand across Southeast Asia.
