At the Regional Industry Networking Conference 2025, SMF President Lennon Tan emphasised the strategic potential of the Johor鈥揝ingapore Special Economic Zone in driving cross-border growth, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing.
The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering manufacturers to expand regionally through the Johor鈥揝ingapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). Speaking at the Regional Industry Networking Conference (RINC) 2025, organised by Singapore Polytechnic, SMF President Lennon Tan participated in a panel discussion titled 鈥Driving Business Growth, Talent Development and Technology Adoption in the Johor鈥揝ingapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ)鈥.
Representing Singapore鈥檚 largest manufacturing association, Mr Tan highlighted SMF鈥檚 role that reinforces SMF鈥檚 commitment to enabling manufacturers to internationalise and scale regionally. The JS-SEZ is a strategic gateway that blends Singapore鈥檚 innovation with Johor鈥檚 industrial strengths. He noted its capacity to unlock value chains across manufacturing, logistics, tourism, clean energy, and the digital economy.
Highlighting the zone鈥檚 appeal, Mr Tan pointed to its close proximity, cost advantages, skilled talent pipeline, and seamless movement. He also underscored SMF鈥檚 Industry 5.0 vision, which places human-centric, sustainable, and technology-enabled manufacturing.
Case studies were also presented, including Tai Sin Electric Limited and Cyclect Holdings, which have advanced green capabilities through SMF鈥檚 Chief Sustainability Officer-as-a-Service (CSOaaS) programme. The JS-SEZ can serve as a launchpad for digitalisation, industrial transformation, and cross-border collaboration.
Through platforms like the JS-SEZ, SMF aims to help Singapore-based enterprises extend their market reach, strengthen competitiveness, and build resilient, future-ready operations.
