The Philippine government presented the North-South Commuter Railway and Metro Manila Subway projects to international investors during a market sounding event in Singapore
SINGAPORE 鈥 The Philippine government, through the Department of Transportation (DOTr), in partnership with Infrastructure Asia and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), hosted the Philippine Infrastructure Market Sounding on 18 August 2025 at the Shangri-La Singapore. The event aimed to engage global investors, operators, and financiers on two of the country鈥檚 most ambitious transport initiatives 鈥 the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) and the Metro Manila Subway (MMS).
Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Medardo G. Macaraig described the projects as 鈥済ame changers鈥 that will transform connectivity, ease congestion, and provide millions of Filipinos with a safe, efficient, and climate-resilient transport system.
In his remarks, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista (represented by Undersecretary Timothy John Batan) highlighted that both projects mark a new chapter in the Philippines鈥 infrastructure development. 鈥淭hese projects are not just about trains and subways. They are about changing lives,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey will reshape the way Filipinos live, work, and spend time with their families. For the first time in decades, we are on the cusp of building a transport system our people truly deserve.鈥
The event attracted strong interest from the international business community, underscoring confidence in the Philippines鈥 infrastructure pipeline and its potential to deliver long-term economic and social benefits.
