The two nations formalised a new partnership at the 42nd ICAO Assembly, focusing on accident investigations, training, and knowledge exchange
Kazakhstan and Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 29 September during the 42nd International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly, paving the way for closer collaboration in transport safety.
The agreement was concluded between Singapore鈥檚 Transport Safety Investigation Bureau (TSIB) and Kazakhstan鈥檚 Permanent Representative to ICAO, Mr Timur Tlegenov. It covered a wide scope, including air, rail, and maritime accident investigations, as well as personnel training and the exchange of expertise and best practices.
Ms Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of Kazakhstan鈥檚 Civil Aviation Committee, underlined the potential for future direct flights and commended Singapore鈥檚 role in training Kazakh aviation professionals. She noted that the partnership would strengthen Kazakhstan鈥檚 efforts to modernise its transport safety standards.
Singapore鈥檚 Permanent Secretary for Transport, Mr Lau Peet Meng, described the MoU as 鈥渢he first step towards broader cooperation and knowledge sharing in transport safety,鈥 highlighting its significance for both countries.
This initiative was regarded as an important milestone in Kazakhstan鈥檚 alignment with ICAO standards and in enhancing international cooperation in the field of transport accident investigation.
