Department of Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin underscored the Philippines鈥 commitment to secure and sustainable energy transitions through regional cooperation and technological innovation at SIEW 2025
The Philippines, led by Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Sharon S. Garin, reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient energy futures at the 18th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW) 2025, held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from 27 to 31 October 2025. Recognised as Asia鈥檚 premier energy platform, this year鈥檚 event was themed 鈥淓nvisioning Energy Tomorrow, Building Systems Today.鈥

Secretary Garin actively participated in two ministerial dialogues, where she exchanged insights with her counterparts on regional grid interconnectivity and the adoption of next-generation technologies in ASEAN鈥檚 energy landscape. She highlighted the Philippines鈥 ongoing initiatives to strengthen energy security and shared updates on the country鈥檚 progress in developing its nuclear energy programme. In her remarks, she reaffirmed that regional collaboration remains vital in achieving a secure, affordable, and low-carbon energy transition across Southeast Asia.
On 28 October, Secretary Garin delivered the keynote address at the Singapore鈥揑nternational Energy Agency (IEA) Forum titled 鈥淪mart, Connected, Secure: Shaping ASEAN鈥檚 Energy Security Landscape.鈥 In her address, she emphasised the significance of regional power grid interconnections in enhancing ASEAN鈥檚 collective energy security, enabling countries to better integrate renewable energy and strengthen system reliability.
Secretary Garin鈥檚 participation at SIEW 2025 reflected the Philippines鈥 proactive stance in shaping a sustainable energy future. Through cooperation, innovation, and shared responsibility, the Philippines continues to position itself as a key regional player in the global energy transition.
