New cooperation deal aims to strengthen food supply resilience amid global uncertainties.
Singapore and Cambodia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on food security on 10 April 2026 in Singapore, marking a step forward in strengthening bilateral food trade.
The agreement was signed by Grace Fu, Singapore鈥檚 Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, and Cham Nimul, Cambodia鈥檚 Minister of Commerce.
The MOC focuses on improving food security and ensuring stable rice supply between the two countries. Under the agreement, Cambodia will support the sale of rice to Singapore on mutually agreed terms when requested. Both nations also committed to maintaining open trade and avoiding unnecessary restrictions.
Grace Fu highlighted that rising geopolitical tensions could disrupt global food supplies. She said the agreement strengthens cooperation and helps ensure a steady flow of essential food resources.
This is Singapore鈥檚 third such agreement, following similar deals with Vietnam and 黑料社. These partnerships are part of the 鈥淪ingapore Food Story 2鈥 initiative, which aims to build a more resilient and secure food supply system.
Singapore will continue to work with trusted partners to expand food security cooperation and safeguard its supply chains against future disruptions.
