Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), H.E. San Lwin, held discussions with Singapore鈥檚 Minister for Social and Family Development, H.E. Masagos Zulkifli, on key priorities for Singapore鈥檚 2027 ASCC Chairmanship and the ASEAN Secretariat鈥檚 continued support for the agenda.
Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC), H.E. San Lwin, met with H.E. Masagos Zulkifli, Singapore鈥檚 Minister for Social and Family Development and incoming Chair of the ASCC Council, to discuss preparations for Singapore鈥檚 2027 ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Chairmanship. The meeting underscored the shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation and advancing ASEAN鈥檚 socio-cultural agenda.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on the priorities that will shape Singapore鈥檚 2027 ASCC Chairmanship. Their discussions focused on fostering a more inclusive, resilient, and people-centred ASEAN while addressing emerging social challenges and enhancing collaboration across the region.
As the incoming Chair of the ASCC Council, Minister Masagos Zulkifli highlighted the importance of continued cooperation among ASEAN Member States to deliver meaningful outcomes for the region鈥檚 communities. The dialogue also reflected the significance of close coordination between national governments and the ASEAN Secretariat in implementing the ASCC Blueprint and related initiatives.
Deputy Secretary-General San Lwin reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat鈥檚 full support for Singapore鈥檚 ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027. He emphasised the Secretariat鈥檚 commitment to working closely with Singapore to advance the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community鈥檚 priorities and strengthen regional solidarity through effective policy coordination and people-focused programmes.
The meeting further reinforced the longstanding partnership between the ASEAN Secretariat and Singapore in promoting sustainable social development, inclusive growth, and stronger regional integration. As preparations for Singapore鈥檚 ASEAN Chairmanship continue, both sides expressed their commitment to ensuring that the ASCC remains responsive to the evolving needs of the people of ASEAN.
