Annual programme enhances professionalism and bilateral defence cooperation
The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) have reaffirmed their commitment to bilateral defence cooperation through the 2026 Junior Officer Exchange Programme (JOEP), held in Indonesia from 27 to 29 July.
Conducted annually on a reciprocal basis, the programme aims to enhance the professionalism of young air force officers while broadening their operational perspectives and strengthening institutional ties between the two air forces. It also provides a platform for participants to exchange knowledge and professional experiences, fostering greater mutual understanding and collaboration.
During the three-day programme, TNI AU and RSAF officers exchanged views on defence technology, military systems, and organisational structures, allowing participants to gain deeper insight into each other’s capabilities and operational approaches.
Complementing the discussions, the RSAF delegation visited several TNI AU facilities, including Helicopter Group 2 and flight simulator facilities, where they gained first-hand exposure to the Indonesian Air Force’s operational capabilities, organisational structure, and training readiness.
The programme also included a courtesy call at TNI AU Headquarters in Jakarta, where the delegation met Indonesian Air Force Air Commodore Kodrat Maliki, Deputy Assistant for Intelligence to the Air Force Chief of Staff, who represented Indonesian Air Force Air Vice Marshal Jatmiko, Assistant for Intelligence to the Air Force Chief of Staff.
During the meeting, Air Commodore Kodrat underscored the importance of the Junior Officer Exchange Programme in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and professional cooperation between TNI AU and the RSAF. He expressed hope that the initiative would continue to deepen bilateral defence ties while supporting the professional development of young officers from both air forces.
The annual programme reflects the shared commitment of Indonesia and Singapore to developing capable air force officers while reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the Indonesian Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force through sustained professional exchanges.
