Policy exchange strengthens Indonesia-Singapore education cooperation.

The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Singapore hosted a working visit by the Vice Chair of Indonesia’s Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), together with the leadership and members of the Regional Legislative Affairs Committee (BULD), from 7 to 9 July 2026.

The official visit aimed to support Indonesia’s efforts to strengthen equitable access to quality education by studying Singapore’s education system and governance model. The delegation met with the Indonesian School in Singapore (SIS), Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE), and KinderWorld International Group/SISH Institute Singapore to exchange views on education policy, school management, and institutional best practices.

Key discussions covered education governance, curriculum implementation, teacher development, school administration, and strategies for improving learning outcomes. The meetings also explored how international collaboration and policy innovation can contribute to building a more inclusive and effective education system.

The working visit is expected to provide valuable policy insights for Indonesia’s ongoing education reforms while expanding opportunities for bilateral education cooperation between Indonesia and Singapore. It also highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing, institutional partnerships, and cross-border collaboration in addressing common education challenges.

By facilitating the programme, the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Indonesia-Singapore education cooperation through policy dialogue, professional exchange, and long-term partnerships that support educational excellence and human capital development.

The Erasmus+ programme has continued to strengthen global educational and cultural exchange by providing opportunities for students from around the world to study and experience life in Europe.

Since its launch in 2014, Erasmus+ has supported more than 16 million students and participants through academic exchange, training, and mobility programmes across European countries. The initiative has become one of the world’s most recognized international student exchange programmes, promoting cross-cultural learning and international cooperation.

In 2024, Germany remained one of the most popular destinations for Erasmus+ participants, welcoming more than 115,200 students. The country continues to attract international students through its strong academic institutions, research opportunities, and vibrant cultural environment.

The Erasmus+ programme also plays a significant role in encouraging youth mobility, educational partnerships, and international collaboration among universities and institutions worldwide.

New programme expansion allows students from Chinese medicine, computing, law, humanities and other fields to pursue graduate medical education.

has expanded its Pathways to Medicine programme, opening more opportunities for students from diverse academic disciplines to pursue careers in medicine.

Announced in Singapore on May 13, 2026, the expansion strengthens collaborations between Duke-NUS, and .

The updated programme now includes students from NTU’s Bachelor of Chinese Medicine, Biological Sciences with Second Major programmes, and CN Yang Scholars studying Biological Sciences.

In addition, a new partnership with NUS College allows students from more than 60 majors, including computing, law, humanities, and other disciplines, to apply for conditional admission into Duke-NUS’ Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme after completing their undergraduate studies.

Students accepted through the pathways must still meet strict medical school admission requirements, including academic performance, Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores, co-curricular achievements, and interview evaluations.

During their undergraduate studies, students will participate in mentorship programmes with Duke-NUS and SingHealth faculty members, clinical attachments, workshops, and talks designed to prepare them for medical school.

A new “Mini Medical School” initiative will also give participants hands-on exposure to medical training through clinical shadowing, simulated patient interactions, first aid training, and Duke-NUS’ TeamLEAD learning system.

Professor Patrick Tan, Dean of Duke-NUS Medical School, said the programme aims to bring together students from different academic backgrounds who share a common goal of improving healthcare and advancing medicine.

Associate Professor Linda Zhong, Director of Biomedical Sciences and Chinese Medicine at Nanyang Technological University, said the inclusion of Chinese medicine students would support the development of integrative medicine by combining Eastern and Western healthcare approaches.

Professor Simon Chesterman, Dean of NUS College, said the pathway would help develop future medical leaders with interdisciplinary knowledge and problem-solving skills.

The programme builds on existing Duke-NUS partnerships with institutions including Singapore Management University, Singapore University of Technology and Design, Duke University, Duke Kunshan University, and King’s College London.

Applications for the expanded NTU-Duke-NUS Medicine Pathway and the new NUS College pathway will open annually in June and July.
