The Let Her Shine! Youth Wellness Event 2026 brought together youths in Singapore for a morning of health education, prevention, and community engagement. Graced by Ms Indranee Rajah, President of SINDA, the event aimed to equip participants with practical knowledge and resources to support lifelong well-being through informed lifestyle choices.

The programme served as a youth outreach initiative centred on preventive healthcare and holistic wellness. Participants attended expert-led sessions covering three key areas of well-being, mental health, heart health, and physical fitness, while engaging with community partners and wellness organisations that showcased services and support available beyond the event.

The sessions focused on recognising stress, building resilience, and promoting mental well-being under the Mind segment. The Heart session highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare, early detection, and heart-healthy habits, while the Body segment provided guidance on exercising safely, preventing injuries, and developing sustainable fitness routines. Participants were also introduced to community resources designed to encourage continued healthy living.

The event concluded with a shared commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyles among young people. Organisers expressed hope that the knowledge and connections established during the programme would encourage participants to continue making informed choices for their long-term physical and mental well-being.

India’s Defence Cyber Agency participated in the 4th Digital Defence Symposium in Singapore, where officials held discussions on cyber resilience and explored opportunities to deepen bilateral defence cooperation.

Rear Admiral Sanjay Sachdeva, Director General of India’s Defence Cyber Agency (DGDCyA), participated in the 4th Digital Defence Symposium in Singapore, where he took part in discussions on cyber security and engaged Singapore counterparts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the cyber domain.

During the symposium, RAdm Sachdeva joined a panel discussion on “Cyber Information Helix”, sharing perspectives on evolving cyber security challenges and the importance of collaboration in strengthening digital resilience. On the sidelines of the event, he also held bilateral meetings with representatives from participating countries to explore opportunities for defence cooperation in cyber security.

RAdm Sachdeva met with Chief of Staff of Singapore’s Digital and Intelligence Service Rear Admiral Yong Wei Hsiung, Deputy Secretary (Technology) at the Ministry of Defence Mr Yew Chee Leung, and Group Chief for Policy and Strategy Brigadier General Amos Yeo, who also serves as Singapore’s representative to the ACICE Advisory Board. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in cyber defence in line with the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During his visit, the Director General also called on the High Commissioner of India to Singapore, where they discussed India’s participation in the symposium and ongoing defence engagement between the two countries.

The High Commissioner of India to Singapore visited the Onboard @ Sengkang West dormitory to engage with Indian migrant workers. During the visit, the High Commissioner listened to workers’ concerns, shared information on available support mechanisms, and provided guidance on grievance redressal avenues.

The High Commission of India in Singapore also expressed its appreciation to Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower and the Migrant Workers’ Centre (MWC) for their continued cooperation in facilitating the outreach initiative.

India External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar highlighted maritime cooperation, regional resilience and deeper engagement with ASEAN during meetings in Manila.

India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening ties with ASEAN during the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India in Manila, where External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar co-chaired the meeting alongside Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro.

During the conference, Dr Jaishankar thanked the Philippines for its role as the country coordinator for the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and endorsed the meeting’s theme, “Navigating Our Future, Together”, as reflecting the shared commitment to peace, stability and development in the Indo-Pacific.

He highlighted growing global challenges, including disruptions to supply chains, energy, food and health security, as well as maritime cooperation, stressing that deeper international cooperation was needed to build resilience and diversify partnerships. Jaishankar also noted that 2026 had been designated the ASEAN-India Year of Maritime Cooperation, describing it as an opportunity to advance regional security and stability.

The minister also underscored the broad ASEAN-India agenda, which spans trade and investment, mobility and talent, technology, digital innovation and artificial intelligence, sustainability, and connectivity. He reiterated that ASEAN centrality remained a key principle of India’s Indo-Pacific approach.

On the sidelines of the meetings, Dr Jaishankar held talks with Singapore’s Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, saying he appreciated their exchange of views on regional and global developments.

He also met ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn to discuss the India-ASEAN Plan of Action for 2026-2030 and thanked the ASEAN Secretariat for its continued support in advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The three-day public event brought together exhibitors, businesses and visitors to celebrate India’s renowned mango varieties while promoting Indian cuisine, culture and agricultural products.

Held from 17 to 19 July 2026 at Concourse 2, Level 3 of the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, the festival featured premium mango varieties flown in from India alongside a selection of authentic Indian food, beverages and live music performances. The event formed part of efforts to showcase India’s agricultural heritage and culinary traditions while fostering greater cultural and commercial engagement with audiences in Singapore.

During the inauguration, the High Commissioner, Dr Shilpak Ambule, toured the exhibition area and visited festival stalls, where he interacted with exhibitors, participating businesses and members of the public. He observed the range of premium Indian mangoes on display and acknowledged the strong participation from stakeholders contributing to the festival.

The festival highlighted India’s diverse mango varieties, offering visitors the opportunity to sample authentic produce imported from India. In addition to the fruit showcase, exhibitors presented a variety of Indian culinary offerings and beverages, while live cultural performances complemented the public programme throughout the event.

India inaugurated its first indigenous hydrogen-powered train on the Jind–Sonipat section of Northern Railway, advancing clean rail transport under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

India inaugurated its first indigenous hydrogen fuel cell-powered train on 17 July 2026, marking a milestone in the country’s transition towards clean and sustainable rail transportation. The train began operations on the Jind–Sonipat section of the Northern Railway, demonstrating the viability of hydrogen-powered mobility while supporting India’s broader environmental and energy transition objectives.

The project was developed as a pilot initiative by Indian Railways in accordance with technical specifications prepared by the Research, Design & Standards Organisation (RDSO). Designed and manufactured entirely in India, the hydrogen-powered train forms part of the country’s efforts to advance indigenous technology development under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Alongside the train itself, the project includes dedicated hydrogen storage, refuelling and operational infrastructure to support safe and efficient rail operations.

The inauguration marked India’s entry into a select group of countries exploring hydrogen-powered rail transportation, joining nations including Germany, Japan, China and the United States. As hydrogen rail technology remains in its early stages globally, the initiative is expected to provide operational experience that could inform future applications across India’s railway network.

The hydrogen-powered train consists of a 10-coach trainset powered by a 1,200-kilowatt hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system. Approved to operate at a maximum speed of 75 kilometres per hour, with a design speed of 110 kilometres per hour, the train has a passenger capacity of approximately 2,600. It connects Jind Junction, Gohana Junction and Sonipat while serving several intermediate stations along the route.

The train generates electricity onboard through a Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), which produces power by combining hydrogen and oxygen. The process emits only water vapour and heat, eliminating carbon emissions associated with conventional diesel-powered locomotives. Indian Railways stated that hydrogen offers a significantly higher energy density than diesel while supporting lower maintenance requirements and reduced environmental impact.

To support operations, Indian Railways established the country’s largest railway hydrogen storage and refuelling facility in Jind, Haryana. The indigenous facility has the capacity to store nearly 3,000 kilograms of hydrogen and has received the necessary licence from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO). The hydrogen ecosystem was developed in accordance with internationally recognised standards, including NFPA-2 and the ISO 19880 Series, and underwent an independent third-party safety assessment by TÜV SÜD, Germany.

Indian Railways also introduced a comprehensive operational and safety framework for the project. The system incorporates hydrogen leak detection, flame monitoring, continuous ventilation, automatic hydrogen supply shut-off mechanisms and real-time system health monitoring. Dedicated maintenance facilities, trained personnel, standard operating procedures and continuous refuelling supervision have also been established to support reliable operations during the pilot phase.

The initiative supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and contributes to the country’s long-term net-zero carbon emission objectives. Beyond introducing a new train, the project establishes the infrastructure, technical capabilities and operational procedures required to support the future deployment of hydrogen-powered rail transportation across the Indian railway network.

Indian Railways is expected to continue evaluating the pilot project to validate operational performance, maintenance practices and safety systems. The experience gained through the initiative is anticipated to support future expansion of hydrogen-powered mobility as part of the country’s ongoing railway modernisation and sustainable transport agenda.

Guests will also be able to purchase freshly sliced mangoes, packed whole mangoes, and Alphonso Mango Pulp, offering an authentic taste of India’s internationally renowned “King of Fruits.”

The festival will also showcase India’s agricultural excellence through premium fresh produce supplied by Shreevali Agro, in association with VEG PRO Singapore. In addition to premium mangoes, visitors can enjoy fresh Indian pomegranates sourced directly from Indian farmers, highlighting the quality and diversity of India’s agricultural sector.

Complementing the fresh produce will be a variety of Indian food products and specialty brands. GG Mart will present an assortment of healthy snacks, premium dry fruits, makhana, nuts, and Indian grocery favourites, while Box Mama will offer traditional delights including refreshing Aam Ras, nutritious snack bars, crunchy makhana, and Mishra sweets. Festival visitors can also explore premium Alphonso Mango Pulp by Netra’s, coconut-based products from Coco Story, and vegan specialities by Spicy Mama.

The inaugural programme recognised three healthcare startups for developing scalable solutions in critical care, cancer detection, and advanced cell therapy in India.

IHH Healthcare announced the winners of the inaugural IHH Catalyst | Fortis India Edition, an innovation programme designed to support the development of healthcare solutions addressing critical patient needs across India. The initiative brought together healthcare startups, clinicians, and industry experts over a 12-week programme to refine and validate innovations with the potential for real-world clinical application.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with Fortis Healthcare and focused on accelerating healthcare innovation through cross-sector collaboration. Ten high-potential healthcare startups participated in the inaugural cohort, working alongside medical professionals and healthcare specialists to develop solutions aimed at improving patient care, expanding access to healthcare services, and strengthening clinical outcomes.

Three startups were recognised for their contributions at the conclusion of the programme. eNext ICU received the top award for its 24/7 Tele-ICU platform, which sought to improve access to specialist critical care for patients in underserved communities. RNT Health Insights was awarded second place for its artificial intelligence-based technology designed to support the earlier detection of upper gastrointestinal cancers during endoscopic procedures. Cartogene Therapeutics secured third place for its work on reducing treatment timelines to improve access to CAR-T cell therapy for patients with blood cancers.

The programme demonstrated the importance of collaboration between healthcare providers, innovators, and industry experts in addressing evolving healthcare challenges. The initiative highlighted the role of digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced therapeutics in strengthening healthcare delivery while supporting more accessible and efficient patient care.

IHH Healthcare also announced that the next edition of the IHH Catalyst programme would be held in North Asia, continuing its efforts to engage healthcare innovators in developing practical solutions for patients and healthcare systems. New initiatives deepen cooperation across defence, energy, cyber and critical technologies sectors.

India and Australia announced a series of partnership outcomes during the Third India-Australia Annual Summit between Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, further strengthening the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership across defence, energy security, cyber cooperation and critical technologies.

Among the key outcomes was the India-Australia Joint Declaration on Defence and Security Cooperation, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to enhancing defence collaboration, maritime security, defence industry engagement and regular strategic dialogue. The declaration reflects the shared objective of promoting a secure, stable and rules-based Indo-Pacific.

The leaders also adopted a Joint Statement on Energy Security, outlining closer cooperation in renewable energy, clean technologies, hydrogen, critical minerals and resilient energy supply chains. The initiative supports both countries’ efforts to strengthen energy resilience while advancing sustainable economic growth and the transition to cleaner energy sources.

Another major outcome was the launch of the Australia-India Partnership on Cyber, Critical Technologies and Supply Chains, which aims to expand collaboration in cybersecurity, digital innovation, emerging technologies, trusted telecommunications and resilient supply networks. The partnership is expected to encourage greater cooperation between governments, industry and research institutions in addressing future technological challenges.

The summit also delivered initiatives to strengthen bilateral trade and investment, promote scientific research and innovation, deepen education partnerships and expand mobility and people-to-people exchanges. Both leaders welcomed continued collaboration through regional and multilateral forums in support of a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific.

Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi arrived in Australia for an official visit from 8 to 10 July at the invitation of Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese, with the two leaders meeting in Melbourne for the Third India-Australia Annual Summit. The visit reflects the growing importance of the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and both countries’ shared commitment to peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.

During the Annual Summit, Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation since the elevation of ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020.
