His Majesty King Abdullah II met Singapore’s leaders to reaffirm longstanding ties and advance collaboration in key sectors.

Singapore hosted His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on a working visit from 13 to 14 November 2025. During his visit, King Abdullah called on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and met Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, who also hosted a lunch in his honour. The engagements underscored the warm and enduring relationship between Singapore and Jordan, which dates back to Jordan’s sponsorship of Singapore’s admission to the United Nations in 1965.

In the meeting with President Tharman, both leaders reaffirmed the strong bilateral partnership and discussed cooperation in education, trade and investment. They also exchanged views on developments in Gaza and the broader Middle East Peace Process, reflecting the shared commitment of both countries to regional stability and dialogue.

Prime Minister Wong and King Abdullah explored ways to expand collaboration in areas such as education, vocational training, investment promotion and green energy. Prime Minister Wong expressed appreciation for Jordan’s support for the welfare of Singaporean students studying in Amman and Irbid. The leaders also acknowledged ongoing cooperation between Jordan and Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) through programmes such as the Postgraduate Certificate in Islam in Contemporary Societies and the Singapore College of Islamic Studies.

Both sides had a substantive discussion on the situation in Gaza. Prime Minister Wong conveyed Singapore’s gratitude for Jordan’s facilitation of humanitarian assistance, including support for Singapore’s recent contribution of prosthetic supplies for about 100 Palestinian amputees. He reiterated Singapore’s readiness to work with Jordan and other partners to support reconstruction efforts in Gaza once a permanent ceasefire is reached.

Singapore and Jordan reaffirmed their shared belief that a negotiated two-State solution, consistent with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, remains the only viable long-term pathway towards a comprehensive, just and durable resolution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. King Abdullah’s visit further strengthened the close friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

HER EXCELLENCY MARGARITA ELIANA MANJARREZ HERRERA
AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF COLOMBIA TO SINGAPORE

Ambassador Margarita Eliana Manjarrez Herrera joined the diplomatic service of Colombia in 1991 and has held the diplomatic rank of an Ambassador since 2015. Prior to her appointment as Ambassador to Singapore, she served as Director of Regional Coordination and Integration Mechanisms at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia during which she represented Colombia before 12 regional mechanisms. She also previously served as Ambassador of Colombia to Israel from 2020 to 2024, as well as Director of Immigration, Consular Affairs and Citizen Services, and Consul of Colombia in Berlin, Germany.

Ambassador Manjarrez has been a professor and lecturer on topics related to international organisations, migration, human rights, consular law and practice, the United Nations system, the Inter-American System of Human Rights, the Pacific Alliance, international treaty law, and nationality at the Colombian universities of Rosario, Externado, Militar Nueva Granada, and San Martin, as well as at the Diplomatic Academy of Colombia. Her expertise is in multilateral affairs in the areas of human rights, international humanitarian law and migration affairs, international negotiations, international and regional organisations, consular law and practice, and the geopolitics of the Middle East.

Ambassador Manjarrez holds a Master’s degree in Analysis of Contemporary Political, Economic and International Problems from Externado University, Colombia, and a law degree from Andes University, Colombia.

AMBASSADOR OF THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN TO SINGAPORE

Ambassador Dr Radaideh is a career diplomat who most recently served as the Jordanian Ambassador to Sudan, with concurrent accreditation as non-resident Ambassador to Chad. He has also served diplomatic postings in the UAE, Belgium, the European Union, Switzerland, Bahrain, Tunisia and Palestine.  During the course of his career, Ambassador Dr Radaideh also played a pivotal role in establishing the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates’ Crisis Centre; and was involved in diplomatic training and strategic planning. 

Ambassador Dr Radaideh holds a PhD in “Good Governance”from the University of EI Manar in Tunisia, a Master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Brussels, a Diploma from the National Defense University in Washington DC, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Political Science from the University of Jordan.

Ambassador Dr Radaideh is married to Mrs. Abeer Shocair, a lawyer, and has two sons. He has published a book entitled “Governance in Arabic Perspective”, a poetry book entitled “Return of Elisar”, and has written in other academic and diplomatic-related publications. His personal interests include squash, and oil painting.

HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA TO SINGAPORE

High Commissioner Macocha Moshe Tembele has been Tanzania’s Ambassador to Indonesia since May 2021. He joined the Tanzanian foreign service in 2008 and was Director of Multilateral Cooperation at the Tanzania Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation from 2020 to 2021. He was posted to Tanzania’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2008 to 2014.

High Commissioner Tembele was Personal Assistant to former Tanzania President Benjamin Mkapa from 2014 to 2020, and Senior Advisor to the Second Burundi Peace Process in 2016, when President Mkapa facilitated the Inter-Burundi Peace Dialogue.

High Commissioner Tembele holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; a Master of Arts in International Relations from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom; a Postgraduate Diploma in the Management of Foreign Relations from Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations, Tanzania; and a Master of Advanced Studies in Mediation in Peace Processes from the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland.

Amman hosts a high-level forum to strengthen private sector partnerships and boost bilateral trade and investment.

AMMAN, Jordan – The Saudi-Jordanian Business Forum commenced on Wednesday, organised by the Federation of Saudi Chambers and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce. The event drew over 250 investors and officials. Its primary goal is to foster a unified economic vision and transform relations into tangible partnerships. The forum’s agenda focuses on stimulating investment and creating new business opportunities.

Leading the Saudi delegation was Hassan Al-Huwaizi, Chairman of the Federation of Saudi Chambers. The group included representatives from key ministries such as Investment, Economy, Planning, and Industry. For Jordan, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Eng. Yarub Qudah, and Minister of Investment, Dr. Tareq Abughazaleh, were in attendance. They underscored the importance of building integrated economic relations.

The forum provided a platform for both nations to highlight investment prospects. Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC) invited Saudi investors to explore opportunities in its nine industrial cities. These cities currently host 16 Saudi industrial investments valued at 133 million dinars. Meanwhile, the Saudi delegation presented investment opportunities in the Kingdom under Vision 2030, detailing institutional support available for investors.

Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, praised Saudi Arabia’s ongoing support for Jordan. He noted that Saudi investments in the country have surpassed $15 billion. Mr. Al-Huwaizi described the forum as a chance to create a “qualitative shift” in private sector relations. A separate meeting of the Saudi-Jordanian Joint Business Council was held on the forum’s sidelines to further these goals.

Ms Dina George Emile Haddad takes on representational and consular duties in Amman.

SINGAPORE — The Government of the Republic of Singapore has announced the appointment of Ms Dina George Emile Haddad as Singapore’s Honorary Consul-General in Amman, Jordan. Her appointment has been made with the agreement of the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

Ms Haddad, 42, is the General Manager and Business Development Director for Markazia. As Honorary Consul-General, Ms Haddad will perform representational duties and notarial functions, as well as extend consular assistance to Singaporeans over the entire territory of Jordan.

Based in Amman, Ms Haddad’s jurisdiction covers the entire territory of Jordan, strengthening Singapore’s consular presence and support network in the region.

An evening of tributes and reflection marks the departure of three ambassadors whose postings in Singapore have strengthened ties with Estonia, Belgium and Jordan.

Singapore, 17 July 2025 — Members of the diplomatic corps, dignitaries, and close friends gathered at Raffles Place to bid farewell to three departing ambassadors: H.E. Priit Turk of Estonia, H.E. Mdm Colette Dominique L. Taquet of Belgium, and H.E. Samer Anton Ayed Naber of Jordan. The reception was hosted at a Pan Pacific Hotels Group restaurant, with Ms Weiling Wee, Executive Director (Asset & Lifestyle), recognised for her support to the diplomatic community.

The evening was opened by H.E. Agustin García-López Loaeza, Dean of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps in Singapore and Ambassador of Mexico. His speech reflected the bittersweet nature of farewells, while honouring the professional and personal contributions of the outgoing diplomats.

Ambassador Priit Turk’s tenure saw the rapid development of Estonia-Singapore relations, underscored by the inauguration of Estonia’s Embassy and Business Hub in June 2023. The event, attended by Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Singapore’s then Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, represented a new chapter in bilateral ties.

Trade between the two countries reached S$177 million in 2022, with a strong annual growth rate. Two key Memoranda of Understanding were signed in 2023, enhancing cooperation in digital services, wellness, and health technology. Estonia’s global standing in e-governance and digital innovation has aligned with Singapore’s Smart Nation goals, with further collaboration visible through Asia Tech and other regional platforms.

The state visit of Estonian President Alar Karis to Singapore in 2024, hosted by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, reaffirmed mutual values in sustainability, youth empowerment, and multilateralism. Ambassador Turk’s posting was a clear reflection of Estonia’s ambitions to deepen ties in Southeast Asia.

Since 2021, Ambassador Colette Taquet has been at the helm of Belgium-Singapore relations. Under her leadership, the partnership expanded significantly in sectors such as maritime cooperation, healthcare innovation, and cultural exchange. Her efforts helped restore direct air links between Brussels and Singapore and enhanced collaboration between PSA International and the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.

Ambassador Taquet also promoted scientific cooperation and innovation, particularly in proton therapy and food security. Her role was central in supporting President Tharman’s visit to Belgium, where he was received by Their Majesties King Philippe and Queen Mathilde — a fitting culmination to her tenure.

Her three-decade diplomatic career, marked by advocacy for sustainable development and European-Asian ties, leaves a legacy of integrity, empathy and global vision.

Ambassador Samer Naber’s time in Singapore was marked by an emphasis on cultural exchange, education, and economic cooperation. Jordan was the first Middle Eastern country to sign a Free Trade Agreement with Singapore in 2004, and ties have since deepened across ICT, smart city development, vocational training, and public health.

Both Jordan and Singapore have consistently advocated multilateralism, interfaith dialogue, and regional stability. The Amman Message and World Interfaith Harmony Week echo Singapore’s own multicultural ethos. Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, visited Jordan on May 19, 2024, to strengthen bilateral defense relations and discuss regional security issues.

On May 19, 2024, Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, made a working visit to Jordan. During his visit, Dr. Ng engaged in several high-level meetings, including an audience with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein. He also met with Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Dr. Bisher Al Khasawneh and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi.
