The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Singapore hosted a commemorative reception on Monday evening to mark Kuwait’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day, highlighting the depth and momentum of Kuwait–Singapore relations.

The Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Singapore held a reception on Monday, 9 February 2026, to celebrate Kuwait’s 65th National Day and 35th Liberation Day. The event, hosted by His Excellency Ahmad AlShuraim, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait, together with his spouse Madam Fatimah AlMenifi, brought together members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, business leaders, and invited guests.

In his remarks, Ambassador AlShuraim reflected on the deep historical foundations of Kuwait–Singapore relations, noting that the two countries marked 40 years of diplomatic relations last year, built on more than six decades of people-to-people ties that predated formal diplomacy.

“Singapore, last year we marked 40 years of diplomatic relations founded on more than 60 years of strong people-to-people ties that preceded formal diplomacy,” he said. “A lasting symbol of these ties is a mosque established in Singapore by a Kuwaiti and Afro-African family, reflecting the deep culture and human bonds between our two peoples.”

The Ambassador underscored the steady expansion of bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including oil and gas, finance, infrastructure, education, and healthcare. He noted that these partnerships have been strengthened through agreements and sustained investments, contributing to mutual growth and shared opportunities for both countries.

“Over the years, our partnership has grown across many sectors through agreements and investments. We have worked together to create mutual growth and share opportunities,” he noted.

Ambassador AlShuraim also highlighted recent milestones in bilateral engagement, including the first Kuwait–Singapore bilateral consultation held in 2024, which reinforced cooperation in priority areas. He added that preparations are under way for the second round of consultations, scheduled to take place in the State of Kuwait later this year.

Economic ties featured prominently in the Ambassador’s remarks, with bilateral trade reaching USD 1.6 billion in 2025. He acknowledged the contributions of Kuwaiti companies operating in Singapore, including Equity Group, Ming Global, ET Singapore, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Kuwait Investment Authority, National Bank of Kuwait, and Agility, noting their role in strengthening economic linkages between the two countries.

Looking ahead, Ambassador AlShuraim expressed optimism about future collaboration in emerging sectors such as technology, green energy, and the digital economy, emphasising their importance in driving innovation and sustainable growth. He concluded by expressing his deep appreciation to the Government of Singapore, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for its continued support and friendship.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Sabah discuss deep-rooted relations and future cooperation during high-level talks in NEOM.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, hosted Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, at NEOM Palace.

The meeting underscored the longstanding historical relationship between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, while also reviewing key regional and international issues of mutual interest.

In attendance from the Saudi delegation were Prince Sultan bin Saad bin Khaled, Ambassador to Kuwait; Prince Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State and Cabinet Member; Assistant Minister of Finance Hindi Al-Suhaimi; and Yazeed Al-Humied, Deputy Governor and Head of MENA Investments at the Public Investment Fund.

Representing Kuwait were Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority, and Sheikh Saoud Salem Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority.

The high-level dialogue reflects the strong diplomatic and economic ties between the two Gulf nations, with both parties committed to building on shared interests and fostering regional stability and prosperity

Singapore, 25 February 2025 – In a momentous celebration, Kuwait marked its 64th National Day and 34th Liberation Day with a distinguished gathering in The Ritz-Carlton Millenia Singapore, underscoring the nation’s resilience, progress, and unwavering unity. The event also highlighted a significant diplomatic milestone—2025 marks the 40th anniversary of Kuwait-Singapore diplomatic relations, a testament to the enduring partnership between the two nations.

Held in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, the celebration was graced by Her Excellency Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, and Ministry of Transport, as the Guest of Honour. Also in attendance were Ms Joan Pereira, Member of Parliament, representatives from diplomatic missions, international organisations, and prominent business leaders.

The occasion served as a platform to reflect on the deep-rooted ties between Kuwait and Singapore, forged through decades of cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening these relations under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, and His Excellency Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore.

In his remarks, the Kuwaiti envoy expressed appreciation for the enduring friendship between the two countries and looked forward to expanding collaborations in key sectors. Reaffirming a commitment to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and to strengthen warm relations between Singapore and Kuwait

CENTRAL to the agenda of the visit by Senior Minister of State (SMS), Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman to Kuwait from 12 to 14 February 2018 were the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS on 13 February and the Ministerial Conference of the Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq on 14 February.

SMS Maliki, during the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Coalition reaffirmed Singapore’s contributions to the Coalition’s efforts to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and stressed the need for a holistic response to it.

The Minister also called on Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah. The meeting focused on the reaffirmation of the warm ties between Singapore and Kuwait and discussions were held on a range of issues, including defence cooperation.

SMS Maliki also called on and was hosted to dinner by Kuwait’s President of the National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al Saleh Al Sabah. They welcomed enhanced security cooperation and discussed regional developments. On the first day of visit (12 February) SMS Maliki had hosted a dinner for Singaporean students studying on scholarship programmes granted by the Kuwaiti government.
