Cannes-winning Polish drama featured in Filmhouse’s Jazz in Film festival.

The Embassy of Poland in Singapore has announced a series of screenings of the award-winning Polish film Cold War (Zimna Wojna) as part of Filmhouse Singapore’s Jazz in Film festival.

Directed by Paweł Pawlikowski, Cold War is set in post-war Europe and follows the relationship between musician Wiktor and singer Zula as they navigate political divisions, personal ambitions and enduring love. According to the Embassy, the black-and-white film tells “a timeless story of love, longing, and freedom” through a soundtrack that blends jazz with traditional Polish folk music.

The Embassy said the film will be screened at Filmhouse Singapore on 4 July at 5:30 p.m., 17 July at 8:30 p.m., 21 July at 8:00 p.m., and 25 July at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available through Filmhouse Singapore’s official website.

Released in 2018, Cold War received the Best Director Award at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival and earned multiple international accolades. The film was also nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Foreign Language Film; Best Director; and Best Cinematography, further cementing its recognition on the global stage.

The screenings form part of Filmhouse Singapore’s Jazz in Film festival, which showcases films that explore the influence of jazz and music in storytelling while bringing acclaimed international cinema to local audiences.

Run-up event marked countdown to International Day of Yoga with strong community participation.

The High Commission of India in Singapore organised a run-up yoga session as part of the countdown to International Day of Yoga 2026 (IDY 2026) in Singapore.

Held at the Chancery premises, the session brought together yoga enthusiasts who participated actively in the event. The initiative aimed to build momentum and awareness ahead of IDY 2026, which is celebrated globally each year to promote health, wellness, and mindfulness through yoga.

Participants engaged in guided yoga practices, reflecting the growing interest in holistic well-being and community fitness activities in Singapore. The event also highlighted the theme of inclusivity, encouraging people of all backgrounds to take part in yoga.

The session marked an early milestone in the “50 Days to IDY 2026” countdown, reinforcing the message of “Yoga for All.” Organisers expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic turnout and support from the local community.

The High Commission continues to host similar activities in the lead-up to International Day of Yoga, aiming to strengthen cultural ties and promote healthy lifestyles through shared experiences.

Award-winning German film will screen on May 9 as part of EUFF’s showcase of European cinema.

The European Film Festival 2026 (EUFF) will present a screening of The Ordinaries on Saturday, 9 May 2026, at Filmhouse at Golden Mile Tower in Singapore.

Organised by the European Union Delegation to Singapore, the festival runs from 9 April to 24 May 2026 and features 29 screenings from 23 European countries. The event highlights Europe’s diverse cultures, languages, and storytelling through cinema.

“The Ordinaries,” directed by Sophie Linnenbaum, follows Paula, a minor character in a fictional three-tier film world divided into Leads, Supporting Characters, and Outtakes. As she prepares for a crucial test to become a lead character, Paula struggles to express strong emotions and begins a journey that leads her to uncover deeper truths about identity, freedom, and love.

The 120-minute German-language film, rated PG13, has received recognition at several film events, including winning Best Direction at the Bavarian Film Awards and earning nominations at the German Film Awards and Munich Film Festival.

The screening is presented by the Goethe-Institut Singapore and the German Embassy Singapore. Ticket prices start from $14.50, with options for students, seniors, and standard admission.

A walk back in time featuring all the milestones that made Sentosa one of the top tourist attractions in Singapore

THE Sentosa Heritage Trail unearths the history of Sentosa and was developed by the National Heritage Board in partnership with Sentosa Development Corporation. It features 30 heritage sites including the recently gazetted National Monument Fort Siloso and 10 heritage trail markers,

The journey through time spans from early settlers on the island, tracing the transformation of the island from a military complex and Singapore as a British colony to a leisure destination with Singapore Cable Car and monorail in 1972.

Fast forward to 2022, Sentosa Island celebrates the Golden Jubilee – 50 years of development to the modern Sentosa’s reinvention with Universal Studios Singapore in Resorts World Sentosa, Far East Hospitality Hotels – The Barracks, Outpost, Village, Oasia Resorts and epicurean dining at Mess Hall and Sentosa family attractions like S.E.A. Aquarium, Skyline Luge Sentosa, AJ Hackett and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
