The Singapore Manufacturing Federation hosted a courtesy visit by the MICCI Sabah delegation to discuss regional manufacturing developments, future collaborations, and participation opportunities in Sabah International Expo 2026.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF) recently welcomed a courtesy visit by the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) Sabah delegation, led by Datuk Susan Chang Huan Soon, Chairman of MICCI Sabah.

The delegation was accompanied by Dr Andrew Sim, Secretary General of FSI, and Ms Stella Liew, Manager of MICCI Sabah. The visit was hosted by Ms Audrey Yap, Vice President of SMF.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange insights on regional manufacturing trends, business developments, and potential collaboration opportunities between Singapore and Sabah.

During the visit, MICCI Sabah formally invited SMF and its members to participate in the Sabah International Expo 2026 (SIE 2026). A special 15% discounted exhibitor rate was extended exclusively to SMF members.

SIE 2026 is recognised as the largest trade fair in East Malaysia and serves as a major event within the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). The regional growth area represents a combined population of more than 81.7 million people.

The expo is expected to serve as a key platform for businesses to connect, build partnerships, and explore opportunities across sectors in Sabah and the broader ASEAN region.

Discussions during the session also explored future collaboration opportunities such as business missions, industry exchanges, and joint platforms aimed at strengthening cross-border partnerships and supporting internationalisation efforts for companies from both ecosystems.

As Sabah continues to strengthen its role within the BIMP-EAGA growth corridor, the state is emerging as an important destination for industries including manufacturing, food and beverages, oil and gas, and green technology.

Tita Adityaranie Champions MedTech Innovation and Commercialisation

One of the featured leaders was Tita Adityaranie, MBA, Founder and CEO of TI MedTech.

Tita shared that she founded TI MedTech after identifying a major gap in the medical technology ecosystem, where many promising biomedtech and healthtech innovations struggled to transition into regulated, manufacturable products.

She explained that TI MedTech serves as an ecosystem partner that helps startups and innovators navigate product development, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing readiness. Guided by its philosophy of “transforming passion into implementation,” the company works closely with partners to ensure products meet international standards such as ISO 13485 while preparing them for commercialisation.

Currently, TI MedTech supports a broad portfolio of MedTech and healthtech programs across Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Projects include wearable medical devices, AI-enabled digital health platforms, and complex medical device programs preparing for design freeze milestones.

Speaking about the challenges of leading a technical company in a male-dominated industry, Tita highlighted resilience, adaptability, and collaboration as key strengths that shaped her leadership journey. She also encouraged more Malay/Muslim youth to explore careers in manufacturing and MedTech, describing the sectors as innovative, meaningful, and filled with opportunities.

Tita stressed the importance of collaboration within Singapore’s manufacturing ecosystem, particularly in MedTech, where expertise across engineering, quality, clinical, and regulatory fields is essential.

She also believes Singapore is well positioned to become a leading global hub for high-end biomedtech and healthtech manufacturing due to its strong regulatory reputation, advanced infrastructure, and collaborative innovation ecosystem.

Mei Ling and Nurul Ain Reflect on Finance, Digitalisation and Hari Raya Values

The feature also highlighted members of SMF’s Finance & Corporate Services division, including Mei Ling, Assistant Manager, Finance & Corporate Services, and Nurul Ain, Executive, Finance & Corporate Services.

Nurul Ain, one of the department’s longest-serving employees since joining in 2007, reflected on the evolution of SMF’s finance operations over the years. She noted that digitalisation has transformed the department significantly, with finance systems now operating on cloud servers instead of local servers. This shift has enabled flexible work arrangements and reduced the need for physical paperwork and storage.

As Hari Raya approaches, Nurul Ain shared her thoughts on the meaning of “Maaf Zahir dan Batin,” explaining that understanding and forgiving small workplace frustrations help maintain long-term and positive relationships with colleagues.

Describing Hari Raya preparations at home, she jokingly referred to the final week before the celebration as the family’s annual “peak period,” filled with cleaning, baking, and preparing for guests.

Their reflections highlighted the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and strong interpersonal values within the workplace.

Waleed Abumazen Brings Engineering Precision to Luxury Manufacturing

Another featured entrepreneur was Waleed Abumazen, Director of Orient Crown Pte Ltd.

Waleed founded Orient Crown in 2010 after identifying a gap in the luxury watch accessory market. He observed that collectors often had to choose between expensive European watch winders and low-quality alternatives that could potentially damage valuable watches.

Drawing from his background in computer engineering, Waleed approached watch winders as precision-engineered systems designed to preserve and protect luxury mechanical timepieces. Orient Crown products feature programmable circuits, silent-running motors, and shielded electronics to ensure performance, reliability, and protection against magnetic interference.

Waleed explained that the company’s product development process begins in its R&D Technical Room, where motors and drive systems are rigorously tested before moving into luxury finishing and design stages.

The company is also collaborating with European firms to integrate winding technology into high-security storage systems, combining luxury craftsmanship with advanced security engineering.

While Singapore remains the company’s research and development base, Waleed said Dubai serves as Orient Crown’s international distribution hub due to its strategic location and access to global luxury markets.

With trademarks protected in more than 60 countries, Waleed noted that compliance standards, logistics, and market localisation remain among the biggest challenges when expanding internationally.

He also emphasised the importance of educating collectors about watch maintenance and encouraged young Malay/Muslim engineers to focus on technical mastery, integrity, and specialization when building their own brands.

Singapore companies are playing an increasingly important role in supporting offshore wind projects across Asia Pacific, as the region accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy sources.

From offshore engineering and specialised vessels to underwater robotics and geotechnical testing, Singapore firms are contributing expertise across different stages of offshore wind development. Industry players have supported enough offshore wind projects over the past two years to power nearly eight million households.

The growing momentum comes as Singapore hosts the , bringing together 16 Singapore companies showcasing capabilities across the offshore wind value chain. The summit is part of a larger series of industry events running through 2029, including , marking the first expansion of Germany’s WindEnergy Hamburg exhibition outside Europe.

Although Singapore does not operate offshore wind farms locally, the country has built strong capabilities in marine engineering, offshore infrastructure, and vessel operations through decades of experience in the offshore oil and gas sector. These capabilities are now being adapted to support offshore renewable energy projects across Asia.

Seatrium has expanded into offshore substations and wind turbine installation vessels, contributing to projects capable of generating more than 16 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity globally. The company has worked on projects including Hornsea 2 in the United Kingdom and TenneT’s BalWin5 offshore converter platform.

Mooreast is supporting floating offshore wind projects in Japan through specialised mooring systems designed to stabilise floating platforms at sea.

Other Singapore companies are contributing through seabed investigations, soil testing, and subsea inspections. BeeX uses autonomous underwater vehicles to inspect offshore wind infrastructure, helping operators reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.

Research institutions are also supporting the sector. Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine Singapore (TCOMS) is developing technologies for offshore wind systems, including floating wind solutions and ocean simulation testing.

As offshore wind projects expand across Asia Pacific, Singapore aims to position itself as a regional hub for offshore wind engineering, technology, logistics, and financing. Industry leaders say the growing ecosystem will create new opportunities for Singapore companies across the renewable energy supply chain.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation hosted its New Members’ Orientation last Friday, bringing together over 90 participants in an event aimed at welcoming new members into Singapore’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The session featured introductions, networking opportunities, and community engagement activities designed to foster collaboration among industry stakeholders. Each new member received a membership certificate, symbolising their formal inclusion in the Federation’s growing network.

Organisers described the event as the beginning of new and meaningful partnerships within Singapore’s manufacturing sector, as companies and professionals connected to share ideas and explore collaboration opportunities.

The Federation expressed appreciation to its event sponsors, including Crayon, aZaaS Pte Ltd, and Standard Chartered, for their support in making the event possible.

Looking ahead, SMF encouraged members to participate in upcoming initiatives, including the SMF Innovation Exchange scheduled for 17 July, which will feature a Reverse Pitch Session for businesses to submit challenges and explore innovation-driven solutions.

The Federation also announced plans for its next New Members’ Welcome event on 28 August, which will include a TGIF networking session aligned with National Day celebrations.

Industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts will gather at the Singapore Climate Transition Forum 2026 to discuss practical pathways toward building resilient and transparent supply chains across Asia.

The Singapore Manufacturing Federation will participate in the Singapore Climate Transition Forum 2026, scheduled for 21 May 2026 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.

A key highlight of the forum will be a closed-door roundtable discussion titled “Practical Pathways Towards Sustainable Supply Chains,” organised by Gprnt. The session will focus on strengthening sustainable, transparent, and resilient supply chains across Asia, bringing together leaders from industry, finance, and sustainability sectors.

The forum will feature prominent speakers including Ms. Clara Kwan, Chief Sustainability Officer, Singapore Manufacturing Federation, alongside Mr. Ravi Menon, Singapore’s Ambassador for Climate Action, Mr. Kok Ping Soon, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Business Federation, and Mr. Lionel Wong, Chief Executive Officer, Gprnt.
