Strong governance strengthens Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund
Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) has ranked second among Asia’s sovereign wealth funds in the Global SWF Governance, Sustainability and Resilience (GSR) Scoreboard 2026, achieving an overall score of 92%, behind only Singapore’s Temasek Holdings.
Published annually by Global SWF, the GSR Scoreboard assesses the world’s 200 largest sovereign wealth funds and public pension funds based on governance, sustainability, and institutional resilience using publicly available information. Indonesia Investment Authority scored 9 out of 10 for governance, 9 out of 10 for sustainability, and a perfect 5 out of 5 for resilience, placing it second among Asia’s sovereign wealth funds.
Indonesia Investment Authority Chairman Mr. Oki Ramadhana said the recognition comes at a time when governance, transparency, and institutional credibility have become increasingly important considerations for global investors when selecting investment partners.
“Global investors are no longer looking only at a country’s investment potential. They also seek trusted partners with strong governance to help navigate investments in Indonesia,” Mr. Oki said during a media briefing in Jakarta.
He added that the independent assessment by Global SWF strengthens Indonesia Investment Authority’s international credibility, helping the sovereign wealth fund attract more global investment partners to Indonesia.
“At the end of the day, if we bring more investment partners to Indonesia, this is not just INA’s success. It is Indonesia that benefits from the investments coming in,” he said.
Echoing this view, Indonesia Investment Authority Chief Risk Officer Mr. Adhiputra Tanoyo said the GSR assessment reflects sustained improvements across the organization, including investment management, risk oversight, compliance, and legal governance.
“A sovereign wealth fund is judged not only by its returns, but also by its governance, sustainability, and resilience,” Mr. Adhiputra said.
Since its establishment in 2021, Indonesia Investment Authority has improved its GSR score from 24% in 2021 to 52% in 2022, 56% in 2023, 60% in 2024, 68% in 2025, and 92% in 2026.
Looking ahead, Mr. Oki said Indonesia Investment Authority will continue strengthening its governance framework while reinforcing its role as a catalyst for global investment into Indonesia. By attracting more international investment partners and directing capital into the country’s strategic sectors, the sovereign wealth fund aims to support sustainable economic growth and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a leading investment destination in Asia.
